jimmythegreek is on a distinguished road

Cleveland/CWS over 5 -115:
Cleveland (34-29) comes off taking 2 of 3 from the Detroit Tigers and moves on to the windy city to take on the Chicago White Sox (22-41) who surprised many by taking 2 out of 3 this past weekend against Boston. The Indians have overcame a slow start offensively and early season injuries to represent the only team in the AL Central over .500 leading the second place Tigers by 5 full games. The White Sox, on the other hand have not been as successful given similar flaws as their opponents but have won 4 of their last 6 games overall. Not just ready to play the spoiler nor seller's roles yet, the pale hose play their next 7 games at home and then hit the road once again to battle the same Tribe early next week.

The White Sox send Lucas Giolito (4-6 7.08) to the hill this evening to open up tonight's first game of four here at Guaranteed Rate Field. The 23 year old right-hander was much sharper in his last outing after suffering consecutive losses by beating the Twins 6-3 last week in the second game of a double header. Giolito allowed just 2 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings pitched with 2 walks and one strikeout. He faces an Indians lineup batting .253 overall but averaging about 5.3 runs per contest while third in the AL with 93 HR. Jose Ramirez (.292 19 43) leads the club in HR and RBI and is tied for second in taters with Mike Trout in the AL. The 25 year old switch hitter has cooled off somewhat over the last week but remains a cornerstone to the Tribe's success exemplifying power and production. Edwin Encarnarcion (.244 16 40) is heating up after hitting successfully in 6 of his last 7 (.308) and is ahead of pace to eclipse his 2016 career highs in HR and RBI. Michael Brantley (.319 10 39) is sixth in the AL in batting and just saw a recent 5 game hitting streak end. Francisco Lindor (.291 14 35) broke a recent 0 for 21 slump going 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored on Sunday. Yonder Alonso (.245 11 36) is trying to snap a 5 for 27 slump (.185) but is still on pace to break 2017's peaks in power and production.

Cleveland counters with Carlos Carrasco (7-4 4.23) who, like Giolito stormed back with a dominating performance last time out. In a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee at home, the 31 year old 9 year righty gave up just a run on 8 hits over 7 innings walking just one and striking out 10. He faces a White Sox lineup batting just .243 overall despite averaging 4.2 runs per contest and 11th in the AL with 68 HR. Jose Abreu (.295 10 38) leads the club in hitting and RBI's, while hitting safely in 6 of his last 7 games (.269). Tim Anderson (.240 11 26) is playing through a thumb injury and saw a recent 4 game hitting streak commence. Matt Davidson (.225 11 28) is tied for the team lead in HR, but his hitless over his last 15 at bats and must cut down on his 65 strikeouts in just 160 at-bats. Yolmer Sanchez (.273 3 27) returns to the starting lineup after a couple of days off to rest a hot hand that over the last week has somewhat cooled off. Yoan Moncada (.236 8 22) after a hot start is just 6 for his last 32 (.188) and will look to right the ship this evening.

We get a reasonable price this evening at Guaranteed Rate Field, a venue in which the ball doesn't quite carry nearly as well as it's interstate field, Wrigley especially with the wind blowing out. The dimensions are hardly challenging straight away at 400 while about 330 to both corners. While both starters bounced back nicely with valiant efforts and quality starts the Indinas behind Carrasco will look to back their hurler with plenty of run support as evident by their balance in the lineup. Giolito has had mechanics and control issues as evident by his ERA. Consequently, this White Sox lineup has some pop as well and despite the greater part of the season throwing away numerous opportunities, can spoil the party for one of the Tribe's aces this evening. Tonight we try to end this recent 2 game slide and get back into the winning column. Best of luck however you play!
