Monmouth -3 vs St. Peter’s

Monmouth has been plenty underachieving this year, but this number is just too small for them at home. Monmouth may sport a worse record than St. Peter’s, but Monmouth has had a rougher ride this year. Monmouth is ranked 100 in SOS, while St. Peter’s is ranked 241. St. Peter’s will try to slow this game down while Monmouth works to speed things up and I think in Monmouth’s house, they will be dictating the pace. The total currently sitting at 136, I think speaks to this as well since this number is on the higher side favoring Monmouth. These two met up in late December and St. Peter’s pulled away in the 2nd half while converting 45% from three for the game and converting a whopping 26 free throws out of 29. In Monmouth’s gym, I certainly expect Monmouth to be getting to the free throw line often as Monmouth is 19th in all of NCAA in free throw attempts while St. Peter’s is one of the worst in the country at fouling. St. Peter’s has a large edge in the turnover column, but at home I expect Monmouth to neutralize this as much as possible. Also, worth noting that St. Peter’s is 1-10 all year on the road. This is a good number for Monmouth here seeing as this is the easiest game they have left on their schedule and they will be more than ready after an awful road loss to Manhattan. They need every win they can get to somewhat salvage what has been a below average season per their standards and have a real good shot here.

James Madison -3 vs UNC Wilmington

James Madison has had back to back games postponed due to a fear of a possible mumps outbreak within the program. This means that James Madison hasn’t played since February 3rd and is sitting on 10 days rest since their biggest win of the year at home vs Towson. These two last met recently on January 25th, a game in which Devontae Cacok dominated this game en route to 26 points and 24 rebounds. James Madison only lost that game by 3 points despite Cacok going absolutely Bonkers. James Madison will not have an answer for him this time around either, by certainly expect a different game plan forcing someone else to beat them here. Cacok is also very foul prone, so I expect James Madison to try to attack him at the rim drawing contact often. Expect James Madison to slow this game down at home and bring plenty of energy after the long layoff. It’s always a bit concerning how well a team will respond with too much rest, but James Madison is home and has an ideal spot to come out with a win in this revenge game. This is James Madison’s best shot to win a game the rest of the way, so they’ll want to do all they can to secure it.
